Anatomical bone models were created from patient DICOM data.

Skull bones were separated using patient-specific Hounsfield values.

The final state of the bone structure post-planned orthognathic treatment was simulated.

Initial designs of personalized zygoma and jawline implants that will provide the aesthetic change requested by the patient were obtained under the guidance of the relevant physician.

SLM Production Parameters

The implants were manufactured using Selective Laser Melting (SLM) method with medical Ti6Al4V-Eli alloy powder. The following parameters were used in production:

  • Laser power: 80W
  • Scanning speed: 1125mm/s
  • Layer thickness: 25µm
  • Hatch spacing: 45µm

Post Process & Polishing

  • The plates were polished using grit 240, 400, 600, 1200, and 1500 SiC sandpaper respectively, and finally polished with a-alumina powder of 0.05 µm particle size.
  • After polishing, they were ultrasonically washed in alcohol at 53KHz frequency for 15 minutes at 26°C.
