Design Examples performed using ANSYS
Following the fracture of a previously implanted standard reconstruction plate, a patient-specific reconstruction plate was designed, analyzed, and manufactured. Design optimization was performed using ANSYS, taking into account the maximum stresses expected in the reconstruction plate during patient activity.
A patient-specific contour correction plate was designed, analyzed, and manufactured. A CAD model of the plate, featuring a porous structure tailored to the patient's anatomy, was transferred to ANSYS/Mechanical. After an appropriate mesh size was selected, stress analysis was performed by applying muscle forces to the structure, with fixation at the mandibular condyle as the boundary condition. In particular, the final geometry of the porous structure was determined based on the analysis results. Throughout these stages, the seamless transfer of the CAD model to ANSYS/Mechanical and the ease of meshing despite the plate's porous structure enabled the ANSYS results to significantly accelerate the design process.
